We do not have a Data Protection Officer (DPO) because we are not required to appoint one.

What data we process and why

1. Contact form

  • Data: name, email address, project type, interests and the content of your message.
  • Purpose: to reply to your enquiry and, where relevant, to consider a possible collaboration.
  • Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Retention: as long as needed to handle the enquiry and, if there is no further relationship, a maximum of 12 months. It is then deleted.
  • Recipients: none. The data arrives directly in our mailbox; it is not shared with or sold to third parties.

2. Email

  • Data: whatever you provide when you write to us.
  • Purpose and legal basis: to handle your communication (consent and/or legitimate interest in replying).
  • Retention: 12 months, unless a contractual relationship or a legal obligation requires longer storage.

3. Web analytics

  • We use a first-party counter and GoatCounter, a cookieless analytics tool with no cross-site tracking.
  • To measure visits in aggregate, our server sends the processor an anonymised version of the IP (last octet removed) and the visitor’s User-Agent. GoatCounter stores neither the IP nor the User-Agent: it only keeps aggregate results (page, date, browser, screen size and approximate location) that cannot identify individuals.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how the site is used.
  • Retention: aggregate data; it can be deleted at any time from the dashboard.
  • Processor: GoatCounter, operated by Martin Tournoij (Ireland), hosted at Hetzner Online GmbH (Finland and Germany), within the European Economic Area.

4. Hosting and email

  • The hosting and email service is provided by LinuxBCN. The physical infrastructure is located in data centres within the European Economic Area. The underlying technology provider is Dinahosting S.L. (Tax ID B-15805419, Santiago de Compostela, Spain), acting as data processor.

There are no international data transfers outside the European Economic Area.

What data we do NOT process

  • We do not set tracking or advertising cookies.
  • We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or equivalent tools.
  • We do not profile you or make automated decisions.
  • We do not sell or transfer data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Your rights

You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability, as well as withdraw your consent, by writing to hola (at) linuxbcn (dot) com . We will reply within one month.

If you believe we have not properly handled your rights, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), at www.aepd.es.

Security

We apply proportionate technical and organisational measures: HTTPS, access control, data minimisation and backups. The form does not store data in any database of our own: it only sends it by email.

Minors

This website is not aimed at minors under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

If we change this policy, we will note it on this page together with the update date. The version in force is the one published at this URL.
